Arthur Jarvis University Post Graduate School Requirements
PostGraduate Diploma Programmes
For admission to a Postgraduate Diploma program at Arthur Jarvis University, candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 1.50 - 2.99 on a 5-point scale. Holders of a Higher National Diploma (HND) require a minimum of Lower Credit for consideration. The specific Bachelor's Degrees, HNDs, and professional certificates deemed eligible for admission into respective Postgraduate Diploma programs will be determined by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee, and this list must be submitted to the Postgraduate School.
Master's Degree Programmes (M.Sc)
To be considered for a Master's degree, applicants must hold a first-class or second-class honors degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or 2.50 on a 4-point scale. Alternatively, candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field and a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale may be eligible. All Master's candidates are required to present and defend a concept note to the department as part of a qualifying examination and attend an interview. Candidates with a Third Class or Pass Degree, or those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or an equivalent professional qualification, may be admitted to a Professional Master's Degree program if they also possess a relevant Postgraduate Diploma with a CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale. Finally, all applicants must submit at least two reference letters from a former Head of Department or Lecturer.
Doctorate Degree Programmes (Ph.D)
To be considered for a Ph.D. program, applicants must hold a first-class or second-class honors bachelor's degree along with a Master's degree in their proposed field of study. They should have an overall CGPA of at least 3.50 on a 5-point scale or 3.00 on a 4-point scale, and their Master's dissertation/thesis must demonstrate strong research ability, with a minimum of a B grade (60%) or "Very Good" from the External Examiner. All Ph.D. candidates are required to submit a written statement of purpose and a statement of research interest, and they must pass an interview conducted by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee, which will focus on their submitted concept notes. In exceptional cases, candidates with a Master's degree CGPA lower than the standard requirement (but at least a 55% average, 3.30/5 CGPA, or 2.50/4 CGPA) may be admitted to a Master's/Ph.D. program. Finally, applicants need to provide two reference letters, with at least one from a former Head of Department or Supervisor.
